a nice poem on one night stands
[lang_en]
Once one of my friends sent a link of a poem, then there was more of him on the website, and the first one I clicked was this awesome poem, there must be sth that made me click that link.
It is cool because it defines one night stands in a nice way:
Half an hour
I never had you, nor will I ever have you
I suppose. A few words, an approach
as in the bar yesterday, and nothing more.
It is, undeniably, a pity. But we who serve Art
sometimes with intensity of mind, and of course only
for a short while, we create pleasure
which almost seems real.
So in the bar the day before yesterday — the merciful alcohol
was also helping much –
I had a perfectly erotic half-hour.
And it seems to me that you understood,
and stayed somewhat longer on purpose.
This was very necessary. Because
for all the imagination and the wizard alcohol,
I needed to see your lips as well,
I needed to have your body close.

)
.
(gerçi orjinali yunanca, zaten sitede yayınlayan adam ingilizceye çevirmiş, ancak itiraf ben üşeniyorum
)

Getting sms delivery reports on iphone
[lang_en]
As iPhone users know, there is no sms delivery report functionality on iPhone. Although I was not curios about this, today it drived me crazy and I googled for the solution.
Luckily, there is one (for Turkey/turkcell).
Just add a *N# to the beginning of your sms, then when the sms is received by the receiver, Turkcell sends you an sms.
I know this is not usable, but better than nothing.
Apple plans to add delivery reports to version 2.2 , lets wait and see…
[/lang_en]
[lang_tr]

a good presentation to understand what flash and flex is for
[lang_en]
today, while I was trying to find some interview questions for a guy coming for the interview today, I came across to a good presentation…
It briefly explains when should use flex, when should use flash by comparing flex-flash , flash player-air .
It is good for people who has problems to distinguish flex-flash and overuse flex (or flash).
So I decided to share it here:

Blind pre-flop all in!
[lang_en]
Blind pre-flop all in!
We went to Las Vegas with two colleagues for this weekend, not to return back to Turkey without seeing Las Vegas, the city of gambling.
The whether is hot, but they’ve created a new world in the middle of desert. Definitely unbelievable, congratulations to the US investors for creating Las Vegas, might be considered for the south-east of turkey. ( I know, we’re too far from this intellectuality while the only betting is done by government and the rest is prohibited by laws.)
Anyway, the club we went Friday night was very qualitative (hotel wynn). Good cover, long line but beautiful girls! But for the day time, las vegas does not have enough attractions… They have Eiffel tower from france, statue of liberty from New york and blah blah, form all around the world. So there is nothing special, no meaning to see Eiffel tower ‘copy’ in vegas. So I decided to play poker for Sunday day time, which I was not planning after Reno experience.
We went to Excalibur, one of the most famous hotels in vegas and guess what, they had electronic tables :s. So no meaning to play, just hanged around in the strip. Then we tried Monte Carlo, and there was a poker room as we wanted, 1-2 blinds, just 4 fun players. I sat in a table with 100 bucks buy in. It was kinda aggressive combined with guarantees, and I did not have any fun, by losing slowly. And my colleague had to leave the table by guessing some guaranteer is bluffing…
I was just sitting on the table to loose my last 30 bucks to leave this fcking las vegas trip… But then things started to go well, first I made it more then 100 with my first good hand. Then the
”central bank” guaranteer left the table. After it, the baseball team that the guys supported won its match, we had free shots of some drink followed by a two pair aces, I could pursue someone to all in in pre-flop(who had 10 pairs), making my budged +250. The table was funny, winning was not making me happy I was just having fun with chatting intellectual rich drunk guys. (ok, to be honest, I was also waiting to take over these drunk guys while drinking my black coffee). Then another guy, who solved my tactics, changed his seat to sit close to me and he got my 100+ buck within 2-3 hands. I was again close to start budget, but still having fun. Later, the guy, who ordered the drinks, wanted to leave table but did not want to visit cashier to get his money. So he got 100 bucks then left the rest 40 something with blind pre-flop all in. He wanted to loose it, or just give as a gift. I had a bad hand, so did not call, an indian guy called him. He had a king and a queen suited and the blind pre-flopper had a 5 and 8. In flop, there was a king, so the Indian guy was winning the bonus 40 $.But then, the next cards after flop was 4 and 7, which was a straight for the blind pre-flopper. Unbelievable, but yes . He just put his 80+ bucks as a blind pre-flop all in for the next round. He was trying to get rid of that money, since his team won, he was rich, and he had a beautiful gf. Next round, again I had a bad hand, did not call 80+. Two guys called him, and one more time, although a guy had two pairs, the blind pre-flopper has reached a straight!!! But this time one more guy had straight with the same height, so shared the money. The blind pre-flop all inner (what a nick name ), just got his new 100 bucks as cash and put 45 $ as the pre-flop all in for the next time. And this time I had Ace and King suited. This time I called him, with 3 guys. All cards opened, no big cards, guys show their hands both having an ace followed with a small number. I thought I won! But noooooo, the pre-flop blind god-luck man had a flush!!!.I could not believe, nobody could but he had!!! I lost almost 200 bucks but never had this much fun! Then he decided to leave the table, what he was trying to do in the last 3 rounds and won 300 $ without wanting, all buy luck. It was unbelievable; everybody was in tears, celebrating him. I had to run through the poker room before calming down, but it was fun!
Yes, unbelievably, a blind-pre flop guy won 3 hands in straight. I was glad that las vegas, in the end, showed how unbelievable it is! It was one of the most enjoying times of me in this USA trip. I just cashed my 140 bucks, ordered beer for my colleagues in the Harley Davidson café.
Now we’re back in the hotel room, watching world poker tournaments. It was fun las vegas, thank you! And poker is good!
Btw, the title is chosen by one of the players from the table….

I was working on some stuff about openfire and made a google search
openfire AuthCheckFilter
then google returned this page:
Couldn’t match

seeing google main page with an error is not common, so it was good seeing the giant failing to handle a request
after 1-2 minutes, google started working, but i have a screen shot ! ![]()

A few words on Improbable
[lang_en]
For those who hasn’t read the book yet:
Our hero, a statistician, is a gambler. One day, when he suffer from an unbearable pain during a game, he loses too much and the story begins…
….
There is no way to write a summary on this book, at least I could not, so you better read the book
, but here is a brief information for the rest of this post:
Guessing the future might be possible with combining environmental effects and mass thought concentration. Of course, not for 100% sure, but think that you could raise the possibility of a tails result of a coin play to 99% by just calculating the speed of the wind, gravity, temperature and etc…
And our hero is, Laplace’s demon!
I always have a a negative prejudgement about bestsellers, just many other people has…
After reading the book of Adam Fawer named “improbable“, I realized that real qualitative things can also show up in these lists (but this couldn’t stop me from feeling bad when buying the next book empathy )
It is obvious that the thing that make the book bestseller is it’s fluent story. Although I fell a sleep while reading my favorite novelist İhsan Oktay Anar‘s book in bed, improbable took me to sleepless nights, i just couldn’t drop the book of my hand…
All people I talked about this book who comes from numerical disciplines liked the book whereas people from social sciences have negative comments about the parts full of mathematical modeling of the world (where I liked most
)
But the thing that made me write this post is neither the fluent story not the mathematical modeling of the world. About 2.5 years ago, I read the book “Time Travel in Einstein’s Universe: The Physical Possibilities of Travel Through Time” written by J. Richard Gott, I asked myself the question: “what might be faster than speed of light, is time travel impossible?” , but could not find a proper answer. But Adam Fawer has found a good answer to this question. Thought … I don’t know this has been proved or not but seems quite logical. It may not be faster, but the parallel calculation property of our brain can bring a new force and this might be possible.
I dont mean “horreyy, we can guess the future”, but think, parallel universe, time travel and many others, if we can discover these concepts more, our point of view may change a lot. The reality that in parallel universes everything is lived different and think about the size of the energy, information… Like Hugo’s train travel game on TV when we were child, roads separate but combine in the future… Wish we were not lost in the separation points and aim the combination. Or at least/only I could do that
…
Just concentration & concentration & concentration…
What if the god, who nows the future, encrypted the way to guess future inside us? Ooops wait a minute! I both talked about the parallel universe and guessing the future (determinism), doesn’t these two intersect? I dont think so, just say, finding out in which parallel universe we live in and moving to the next, if possible….
Maybe the god designed the world recursive, and the mission of the human being is to find out this and create another world….
Thank you Adam for refreshing my respect to determinism… Let’s see what empathy will bring….

Kitabı okumamışlar için bilgi:
İstatistikçi kahramanimiz, aynı zamanda bir kumarbazdır. Bir gün masada nöbet geçirirken dünyaları kaybedince, hayatı moka sarar, hikaye başlar.
….
)
…
Sadece konsantrasyon & konsantrasyon & konsantrasyon…

Ubuntu 8.04 Acer 5020 WLan Setup
[lang_tr]
/lib/firmware/
dizinine açın. Bilgisayarı yeniden başlatınca wireless hazır!
Terminalde:
sudo modprobe acer_acpi
sudo echo 1 > /sys/devices/platform/acer_acpi/wireless
yazdığınızda wlan ışığınız yanacaktır. Sonra sağ üst köşedeki ağ yöneticisinden istediğiniz ağı seçip bağlanabilirsiniz.
Bilgisayarı her başlattığınızda
sudo echo 1 > /sys/devices/platform/acer_acpi/wireless
yazmanız gerekmekte. Ancak
chmod 777 /sys/devices/platform/acer_acpi/wireles

First post from airpress
[lang_en]
This is my first post using airpress. I was thinking of making such an application using Adobe AIR, While searching for cool applications for my presentation on “Offline Desktop Applicaitons” i came across to this cool application.I very cool and easy to use application to control your wordpress blog.
You can download it from here. [/lang_en][lang_tr]
Bu iletiyi airpress kullanarak yazıyorum. Geçenlerde Adobe AIR ile neler yapabilirim diye düşünürken blog kontrol eden bir program yazma fikri gelmişti aklıma, vakit bulduğumda başlamayı da düsünüyordum ki ODTÜ Bilgisayar Topluluğu seminer dizisinde vereceğim “Masaüstünde çalışan web uygulamalı ” adlı semieri hazırlarken airpress ile karşılaştım, ve şuan deniyorum
.
airpress i buradan indirebilirsiniz.
ne yazıkki türkçe karakter eklediğim zaman bozuluyor, gerekli başvuruyu yaptım, umarım düzeltirler…
