This being a novel that both captured me for days and urged me to ponder long hours over the terminology of determinism which .. really helped me come up with different and cool theories, for my own, of course.
As for your question -or a statement ? perhaps - I think you misled yourself about the relative speeds of light and thought. Thoughts happen to be rapid moving electric signals ( alpha, beta, and two others as addressed in the book under the neurology section -lol- ) and electric signals are not faster than that of the speed of light.
As Einstein has proven adamantly, light speed is unachievable without some serious consequences which still stand vague today.

And there isn't any 'mission' for humankind, nor is there any puzzle awaiting to be unresolved. There are decisions. There is suffering. And there is death. Life is that simple, and yet people want to make it more than that.

Having a deterministic view requires one to be..basically materialistic. Which is to ignore all the spirit and afterlife bullshit. Personally, I don't believe in human spirit. I believe in biological factors that make us up and that we are all part of the earth as we are made up of atoms. When we die, the person we were is not anymore. It's just that we are gone and will never be the same as everything else. It's very hard to sum up everything I believe in, so If you would like to discuss any further, hit me up.
Nice post, btw.

I'm glad you posted this on Aardvark's community forum because I somehow missed it. Firstly, thanks for the great post! I really appreciate all the feedback as well. As you know, we're now starting to work on an API, and we'll definitely look at desktop clients as we expand to new platforms. To see why we've chosen not to rank users or query old answers so far, you should check out these two posts in the community forum: http://bit.ly/4oaY47 and http://bit.ly/2w5uYG -- that said, I'd still love your input on these issues. If you or any of your readers have further feedback, I'd love to hear from you - alison@aardvarkteam.com

Tanenbaum's Computer Networks, right? I know it well because I was in a similar situation just a year ago, only with a difference: being responsible for the whole book (800+ pages) and an additional data communications text (again 800+ pages).

Tanenbaum's tales about AT&T monopoly and his mention of DARPA guys as modern age heroes are so focusable that I found it very hard to get technical details. This book is a nightmare if you're studying for an exam in a limited time span.

The only reason I couldn't get an A from computer networks, neither my fault nor lack of knowledge. I hope you have done a lot better than me in the exam.
